This is a nationally renowned arts centre which is a major force in British contemporary art. There are cinemas, galleries, a restaurant and bar and regular exhibitions. Events are advertised in the local press and there is a great atmosphere, so if you fancy a change of pace it's definitely a good place to visit.

The City Council manages and operates the Colston Hall which has been at the forefront of Bristol’s concert and entertainment scene for many years. It continues to stage concerts by the biggest names in musical entertainment as well as providing a venue for local choirs, orchestras and schools. Audiences of all ages are regularly attracted to the enormous variety of events which are staged at the hall. The hall’s excellent acoustic quality lends itself to classical music. Indeed the hall serves as the major concert hall for the region with performances by internationally renowned orchestras from all over Britain and Europe. Many of the nationally touring comedy, pop and rock shows visit Colston Hall, which also has the versatility for a range of non-performance events that include AGMs, cookery shows, product demonstrations, conferences, award ceremonies and lectures.

This is a massive theatre in the city centre. Typically shows here are West-End re-runs, pantomimes staring television celebs and concerts from famous but not currently popular rock stars, although there is sometimes high class Opera and Ballet.

Since its opening in 1966 by Sir Michael Redgrave (OC) the theatre has become widely recognised as one of the most attractive in the area with an excellent acoustic both for music and speech.
